Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – November 3, 2017 – The CEOs and stakeholders in development finance will converge at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Republic of Nigeria from November 8-10, 2017 for the 2017 CEO Forum of the African DFIs on the theme “Strengthening African DFIs through Good Corporate Governance and Appropriate Regulations for Sustainable Development Financing in Africa”.
The Forum which is being hosted by the Bank of Industry, Nigeria will be officially declared open on Thursday November 9, 2017 at 9:00 am by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Also expected to grace the official opening event are Officials of the African Union (UA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Honorable Minister of Finance of Nigeria, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment of Nigeria and Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Forum will focus discussions on current development expectations in Africa and how DFIs could be strengthened to support efforts in achieving national development goals. It will discuss current trends in the global DFI environment, innovative financing mechanism and options for mobilizing resources for development projects, develop and strengthen partnership for cross-border investment promotion & financing. Furthermore, the Forum will chat new course aimed at scaling up DFIs effort and commitment in promoting inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in the continent, as well as provide opportunity to engage DFI supervisory authorities and DFI community on the need to deepen DFIs’ activities and make them more relevant in achieving development goals in the various African countries.
Besides, the 2017 CEO Forum will also receive the report of the 2017 Peer Review and Rating of African DFIs with the Prudential Standards, Guideline and Rating System (PSGRS), and will provide opportunity to share the experiences of DFIs in the application of the PSGRS and their various reform efforts. The Forum will unveil the Revised Edition of the PSGRS.
Over 300 delegates from Africa and across the globe including CEOs, their Deputies and Senior Management Staff in National and Sub-regional DFIs, the Director Generals in the DFIs supervisory Ministries, Governors and Heads of relevant Departments in the Central Banks, as well as Chairmen of Boards of DFIs, Representatives of Multilateral Banks/Organizations and bilateral donor agencies.
